existing multi-story buildings served by a public water supply and
sanitary sewer and erected before 1950 which because of their functional
design are no longer considered efficient by contempory standards for
manufacturing uses but would lend themselves subject to proper safeguards
and appropriate standards for conversion to office and / or residential use.
It is hereby found and declared that these Regulations are necessary for
the protection of these buildings and surrounding areas and that their
protection is essential to the maintenance of a balanced community
of sound neighborhoods.
SECTION 4.11 - "USE AND BULK TABLE" - Insert in column #4 "Permitted
Special Uses" in line with LI and HI as follows:

After discussing the request of Meadow Haven, Inc. pursuant to a public
hearing held on June 26, 1985
WHEREUPON motion made by Commissioner Harris, seconded by Alternate Baumann
it was unanimously
VOTED to APPROVE the request of Meadow Haven, Inc. - 200 Pratt Street, Heriden,
Conn. - Excavation permit, with stipulations, for Lots 3-3B-8-14, Block 14
located on the south side of Orchard Road 4000 feet distant east from the
intersection of Orchard Road with Chamberlain Highway.
Stipulations
o Haul Route - West on Orchard Road only
Soil erosion and sediment control measures to conform with the Connecticut
Council on Soil & Water Conservation "Guidelines" published January 1985
be required
° Haul route be inspected mutually by the applicant and the Town Engineering
Office before and after the excavation
Defects occurring during the haulage of gravel over the road be repaired
by the applicant to equal or better condition than now exists
Traffic controls be provided on the haul route satisfactory to the
Police Department
Dust controls be provided to the Town Engineer's satisfaction
Hours of operation be limited to between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.
Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, Saturdays and Sundays
° Permit period be limited to two years

Agenda of the Zoning Board of Appeals scheduled to be heard at a public
hearing scheduled for July 23, 1985 was reviewed
Commission requested the Zoning Enforcement Officer to speak against the
following petition as it was in violation of the Berlin Zoning Regulations

Item IX
Chairman reported that he had a verbal conversation with the Berlin Corporation
Counsel and was informed that J. Dorio Builders & Realty Inc., Middletown Road
was denied his request for an extension by the Court on July 8, 1985.
No timeframe was discussed on July 8th. Previous extension carried a July 1, 1985
date to abandon the premises.
Chairman to further review and report at the next regular meeting.
