Item IV An advertisement in the New Britain Herald indicated continued violation of Baretta Provision, 172 Commerce Street, East Berlin, be selling retail. Zoning Inspector to review with Corporation Counsel and report back. It was reported that Simeone Sand & Gravel trucks were littering the roadways with gravel while hauling from their gravel bank on Orchard Road. Zoning Inspector to review and order corrective measures. Item V After discussing the request of Earl H. Wicklund, Inc. and heard at a public hearing, February 8, 1984 WHEREUPON motion made by Commissioner Pegolo, seconded by Commissioner Corrigan it was VOTED to approve the request of Earl H. Wicklund, Inc. for a zone change from Residence R-43 to R-21 on Lots #2 and #7, Block #12 located on the south side of West Lane, 200 feet, more or less, distant west from the intersection of Woodhaven Drive with West Lane. Commissioner Ferraguto abstained. Reason: Expansion of a contiguous Residence R-21 zone Proposed develOpment will be served by sanitary sewer and town water. Mr. Carlson informed the Commission that unshaded light sources constitute violation of Section 11.72.04 of the Berlin Zoning Regulations. Such business signs shall comply with the provisions of Section 11.40, 11.43 and 11.45 respectively, except that a detached sign greater than 32 square feet in area but not in excess of 30 feet, shall be permitted if first approved by the Planning Commission. The underlined words constitute the proposed amendment. Item XIII After discussing the request of Peter Doyle, Donald Lee Ward and Joanne G. Ward and heard at a public hearing April 11, 1984 WHEREUPON motion made by Commissioner Ross, seconded by Commissioner Ferraguto it was unanimously VOTED to APPROVE the request of Peter Doyle, Donald Lee Ward ~ Joanne G. Ward for a zone change from Retail Business to General Commercial on Lots 13 and 14, Block 27, located on the west side of Harding St., 135.9 feet distant north from the intersection of Harding Street with Farmington Ave. REASON: An extension of contiguous Commercial zoning. Best use of the land. Item XIV After discussing the request of George V. Lawler and heard at a public hearing April 11, 1984 WHEREUPON motion made by Commissioner Ross, seconded by Commissioner Pegolo it was unanimously VOTED to DENY the request of George V. Lawler for a zone change ~-r-om Residence R-43 to Residence R-21 on Lots 5-10 inclusive, Block 144, located on the west side of Main St., south from the intersection of Mill Street with Main Street. Item XV Action of the Zoning Board of Appeals pursuant to a public hearing held on March 27, 1984 was reviewed. Item II A letter from George Skeene, Jr., Secretary of the Parade and Carnival Commission of the Four Volunteer Fire Departments, Town of Berlin, dated May 2, 1984, requesting permission to sell beer at a carnival scheduled to be held at the Berlin Fair Grounds May 30th, 31st, June 1st and 2nd 1984. After discussion on this request WHEREUPON motion made by Commissioner Ferraguto, seconded by Commissioner Corrigan it was unanimously VOTED app.roving the request of the Four Volunteer Fire Departments o--f-~e Town of Berlin to sell beer at a carnival to be held at the Berlin Fair Grounds May 30th, 31st, June 1st and 2nd, 1984.
