Meeting was called to order at 8:10 P.M. by Chairman Ward.
HINUTES
Motion was made by Mrs. Delaney, seconded by Mr. D. Ward and VOTED to appr°~e
the minutes of January 27, 1972 meeting.

BILLS
It was moved to Mr. McKeon, Seconded by Mr, D. Ward and VOTED to pay bill
for secretarial services for the month of January, 1972 to Judith Lindgren in the
amount of $326.25 from #201 Board of Finance-Operating,
It was moved by Mrs. Delaney~ seconded by Mr, McKeon and VOTED to pay bill
for minute record book from Adkins Printing Co. in the amount of $79.05 from %201
Board of Finance-Operating.
COMMUNICATIONS
Final assessments for sanlt~ry sewers in portions of Wilbur Cross Highwa~
and Deming Road, (East), Berlin were received from the Water and Sewer Commission ~nd
copies distributed to Board members,
Copy of letter from Thomas J. Hague, Deputy Commissioner, State of Connecticut,
Labor Department, dated January 25,.1972, explaining Public Act 85 which directly
affects the wages paid to municipal e~ployees and went into effect on October 1, 1971.
TRANSFERS
Letter from Mr. Bentley, dated February 1, 1972, requesting a~transfer of ands
to account #145 Unemployment Compensition to cover claims for the quarter ending
September 30, 1971.
Motion was made by Dr. McIntosh~ seconded by Mr. McKeon and~VOTEU~to
transfer $1,467.50 from %210 Contingency to %145 Unemployment Compens tion.
Letter from Mr. Bentley, dated February 1, 1972, enclosing quotations for
an electric typewriter and stand for the Police Department ~see minutes of January
18, 1972).
Motion was made by ~lr. McIntosh,- seconded by Mr. D. Ward an~ VOTED to
transfer $362.36 from %210 Contingency to account %C-2006 Typewriters
for the purchase of a typewriter and stand from Gehrlng Office Equipm~
NEW BUSINESS
The remainder of the meeting was devoted to hearing the proposed'budget~fol
the Peck Memorial Library. During the discussion, Chairman Ward suggested Mr.
Devlin check into leasing a bookmobile fdr: use in the Town and advise him of the c¢ st.
It was VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 P.M.

Meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by Chairman Ward.
MINUTES
Motion was made by Mrs. Delaney, seconded by Dr. McIntosh and VOTED to approv.
the minutes of February 1, 1972 meeting.
BILLS
It was moved by Mrs. Delaney, seconded by Mr. D. Ward and VOTED~to pay bill
from University of Connecticut for ten copies of the 1971 edition of the Handbook
for Connecticut Boards of Finance in the amount of $16.00 from #201 Board of
Finance-Operating.
It was moved by Dr. McIntosh, seconded by Mr, McKeon and VOTED to pay bill fro]
Aldo Castiglioni for seventeen pictures for the Annual Report for a total of
$136.00 from #201 Board of Finance-Operating. OPPOSED: Mr. D. Ward as he feels
it is the Board's job to prepare the report and it should be brought before tlhe
Board before going to press.
TRANSFERS
Bill was presented from Albert J. Dudzik, Jr., Town Auditor, for the balance
due for the examination of the books, accounts and records of the Town of Berlin
for the year ended June 30, 1971 in the amount of $1,985.00.
Motion was made by Mrs. Delaney, seconded by Mr. D. Ward and VOTED to
transfer $1,985.00 from #210 Contingency to #202 Audit and Accounting.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Bentley advised he looked into the matter of two telephones_ at St. Paul's
~Junior High School as requested (see minutes of January 27, 1972). Ne reports
there is one phone in the nurses' room and another in the psychological examiner's
room and the two are connected to the switchboard in the school secretary's office
upstairs so she may answer a call in their absence.
No action was taken.
NEW BUSINESS
The remainder of the meeting was devoted to hearing the proposed 1972-73 budge'
of the Board of Selectmen, Public Works Department and the Highway Department.
During review of the Public Works Department budget, it was suggested obtainin~
an addendum to Sanitation and Leaf Collection-Contracted, account #722, for a chari
without paper pick-up,
In lieu of the 1972-73 request for $30,000 for the Toll Gate Road Bridge, in
the Highway Department budget, it was suggested the hump be repaired in Robbins
Road as the Town has received many complaints. Mr. Seelye stated he felt $10,000
would be sufficient figuring $2,500 to lower the water and move the hydrant,
$3,750 for rock removal, the reaminder for materials, grading, etc. They would
use the town crew.
Mr. Powers discussed the need for a drug coordinator or someone qualified who
could devote enough time and energy to the drug problem in Town. Mrs. Delaney
suggested we look first to the Wheeler Clinic for help as we contribute our share.
Mr. Powers agreed to do this and return to the Board.
It was VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 10:35 P.M.
