1969/01/21MINUTES BOA~D OF ~INANCE Regular Meeting January 21, 1969 Members Present: Thomas W. Ward, Jr., Wolcott S. Brown, Blanche J. Delaney, John F. Miller, Dominick F. Scerra Members Absent: Robert A. Sprague Others Present: Emil G. Carlson, Building Inspector and Donald S. Soccoli, Assistant Building Inspector; Robert F. Probst, Chairman Zoning Commission; Barold F. Bomba, Town Clerk (All part of meeting) Mrs. Blanche Mahan of the Press Meeting called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman Ward. MINUTES It was VOTED to approve the minutes of January 14, 1969. Transfers Letter from Emil G. Carlson, Building Inspector, dated January 15, 1969 requesting approval of an interdepartment transfer in his current budget. It was VOTED to grant approval to an interdepartment transfer of $200 from $16b Building Inspector, subitem Professional Assistance to subitem Supplies. Communications Minutes of meeting with Mr. Anthony Wallace, President of The Connecticut Light and Power Company and town officials, held on January 16, 1969, together with a breakdown of costs of Re relocation of Selden Street, including a traffic light at its intersection with Route 5, were received from Mr. Arthur B. Powers, First Selectman and distributed to all Board members. New Business Mr. Ward reported that he had received a telephone call from Mr. Arthur B. Powers, First Selectman advising that Mr. Don Soccoli, Assistant Building Inspector had received a firm offer for a position with the Town of Guilford at a substantial increase in salary. Mr. Ward further reported that because of this development he had contacted Messrs. Carlson and Soccoli of the Building Department to appear before this Board this evening to discuss this matter along with their proposed 1969-1970 budget. Following discussion of this matter which is contingent upon action of the Board at this time It was VOTED to notify the Assistant Building Inspector, through Mr. Carlson the Building Inspector, that this Board has agreed to set an annual salary of $8,100 for the position of Assistant Building Inspector, effective July 1, 1969. The remainder of the meeting was devoted to hearing the proposed 1969-1970 budgets of the Town Clerk, Zoning Commission and Building Inspector.
