The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (C.I.A.C.)
Boy's Cross Country committee has requested the use of Timberlin
for their cross country championship run on November 1, 1985.
Approval was granted.
A request was also made for use of Percival Field for the
Babe Ruth District All-Star tournament to be held between
July 6 and July 11. Approval was granted.
Mr. Kelly reported on spring activities. He intends to change
the middle school basketball program to try to encourage more
interest. The local teams would compete with teams from other
towns. The fees will change from $6.00 to $3.00 ($30.00/resident
team) and non-resident teams would be charged $40.00.
The fees for the summer high school basketball league will
also change from $100.00/resident team and $120.00/non-resident
to $75.00/resident team and $100.00/non-resident team.
Mr. Kelly presented the list of accepted applicants for the
playgrounds. The Commission gave its approval and now the list
will be sent to the Executive Board and acceptance letters will
be mailed to the applicants. The list of workers at the pools
will be reviewed at the June Commission meeting. It was noted
that there was a 9% reduction in the number of passes sold
last year after the pool fees increased. There was a discussion
on reducing the pool pass fees this year but it was agreed by
those in attendance that the fees should remain the same.
Mr. Kelly has spoken to the Mayor about a community calendar.
The Mayor gave his approval for the idea and it was agreed by
the Commissioners in attendance that the best location would
probably be in the lobby of the Town Hall. An announcement
will be put in the paper informing organizations in town of
its availability.

feels it is a worthwhile activity and that we should go ahead
with it. He will try to get a local organization such as
Jaycees or the Youth Council to help run the meet.
