1975/03/10MINUTES EXECUTIVE BOARD March 10, 1975 The meeting was opened at 7:30 p.m., at the MCGee School, by Mayor Arthur B. Powers. Deputy Mayors.Lanzoni and Dickinson were present. On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to accept the minutes of 2/18/75. MOTION CARRIED. On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seConded'by"Mr'.'Dtckinson, it was voted to accept the minutes of 2/24/75 with the fol'lowing correction: page three--the complaint submitted by Mr. Dickinson was from a resident of High Road and not Huckleberry Lane as stated in the minutes. MOTION CARRIED. On motion by Mr. Lanzont, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to award the contract for purchase of hose to replace that lost in the fire at the East Berlin'Fire Department,.to Shipman Fire Equipment Co., the low bidder, on the recommendation of the Fire Board. Shtpman's quoted price was $2.35 per/ft. Other bidders were: American Fire Equipment Co. O. B. Maxwell MOTION CARRIED. $2.90 per/ft $2.70 per/ft On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, secDnded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to award the contract for an 8 horsepower concrete saw with blades to the low bidder, The Arnold Company of Newtngton at a bid price of $1316.00. Other bidders were: J. M. Battalion Co. R. W. Thompson Co. MOTION CARRIED. .$1402.00 1599.00 On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to award the contract for beam rail, to be installed at various locations, to the Guardrail Co., Inc. for used material at a bid price of $3103.00 for 600 feet with new' posts and end caps. The .bid went out and prices were obtained for both new and used materials. Mr. ISeelye, Town Engineer, recommended that the bid be awarded to Guardrail Inc. for used materials in that he has found that although the used material is duller than new, and may be oxidized, we have used this type in the past with good results. NEW USED ~Tl-o .oo 332.6.50' 3710.00 4770.00 3759.00 3103.00 3158.00 Executive Board Mtnutes 3/10/75 On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to'i award the contract for painting street sign posts to the low bidder, New Britain Sign Co., at the quoted price of $10.00 per post. Mr. Joseph Paskiewicz, Deputy Otrector of Public Works, recommends the painting of street sign markers rather than installing new ones in order to save money as new posts would be quite costly. Other bidders were: Bolles Sign Painting: $10.00 p/hr(6 to 8 posts per day); Cen- tral Sign Co. $25.00 per post. MOTION CARRIEO. On motion by Mr. Lanzont, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, it was voted to reappoint Mr. Angelo Barcella as Oog Warden for one year. Term to expire on 31 March 1976. MOTION CARR[ED. On motion by Mr. Lanzont, seconded by Mr. 'Otcktnson, it was voted, to reappoint the following as Assistant Dog Wardens for one year. Terms to expire on 31 March 1976: Clarence Oansro; Alex Schneider; Russell Morse and Elizabeth Morse. MOTION CARRIED. Mayor Powers read a report from Dog Warden Angelo Barcella in which he advises that during the 1973-74 lucensing.year the sale of dog tags was 2242. During the 1974-75 licensing period 2282 licenses were sold as of 2/28/75. It is expected that 2400 tags will be sold during the upcoming licensing period. On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded b'y'Mr. ~Otcktnson, it was voted to award the contract for a Stand-by Generator (this item was re-bid) to the low bidder, United States Motors (Economy Electrict Supply Co., Manchester) at the bid price of $4549.20 plus freight charges which will be approximately $160.00.. Other bidders were: Truck & Diesel Equip- ment Service-SS125.00; Dieseleetric, Inc.-, $4890.00 plus $130 freight; M G Electric-$SlO0.O0; Kinsley Power Co.-$$200. MOTION CARRIED. At this point the Board met with Attorney Bagley, representing .Mrs. Mona. Clark, and Mr. Morgan Seelye.. There was a discussion regarding an'error in the maps which w~s made at the time of subdivision of Mrs. Clark's property. Mr. Seelye and Corporation Counsel Jackaway recommended and the Board, upon said recommendations, discussed, approved and signed Quit Claim deeds between the Town of Berlin and Mrs-. Mona Clark for land subdivided in error as shown on Town maps. MOTION made by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Dickinson, to sign the above documents. MOTION CARRIED. Th'ere being no further business, the meeting adjourned in order that the Executive' Board might attend the Town Meeting immediately following.
