1970/03/23MINUTES BOARD OF SELECTMEN April 16, 1970 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by First Selectman Arthur B. Powers. Ail Selectmen were present. The minutes of the meeting of March 30, 1970 were accepted as read. On motion of Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Johansen, the resignation of Frank Dobek, Jr. from the Drug Action Committee was accepted with regret. On motion of Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Johansen, Mrs. Ryszard Mrotek was appointed to the Drug Action Committee. Mr. Powers read a letter from Angelo Barcella, Canine Control Officer, regarding the death by dogs of four Golden Dutch Rabbits. Mr. Barceila recommended a payment of $2.00 per rabbit for a total of $8.00. On motion by Mr. Lanzoni, seconded by Mr. Joahnsen, the Selectmen voted to pay $8.00 to Mr. Clarence Dansro, owner of the rabbits. On motion by Mr. Johansen, seconded by Mr. Lanzoni, it was unani- mously voted to purchase the MB Cruiser sweeper, with gas engine, from Deephouse Equipment Company at a net cost of $13,880. Their original bid was $14,780 with diesel engine. Other bids were as follows: Wilhelm Davies, Pelican III, $15,733.00 Casey & Dupuis, Wayne 1-984, $13,673.00 Some of the reasons for purchasing the MB Cruiser were: t. Very fast operation (will travel up to ~0 m.p.h.) 2. Very clean operation - limited amount of dust 3- Good maneuverability 4- 4-1/3 cubic yard hopper 5. Ail hydraulic 6. Rear dtumping 7. Wheels in back of brooms 8. 300 gallon water tank 9. Deephouse is local bidder 10. Truck can be washed down with its own water system 11. Mr. Johansen saw the three sweepers in operation.
