COMMISSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
Minutes of Meeting, Thursday March 8, 2018

Call to Order & Roll Call
Chairman Dombrowski called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Members Present:
Chairman Robert Dombrowski
Barbara Cesanek
Peter Zera
Doug Truitt, Staff Liaison
Marlo Matassa, Recording Secretary
Members Absent
Nancy Luddy
Andrew Chatlas will not be renewing his appointment on the commission. The
commission will be looking for a new commissioner.

Annroval of Minutes
Motion to approve the June 8, 2017 minutes made by Chairman Dombrowski
and seconded by Commissioner Cesanek, passed unanimously.
Old Business
Updates on community projects and collaborations
i. Commission for the Aging - Chairman Dombrowski and
Commissioner Cesanek met with the group last month for
discussion.
ii. Library - Handicap parking is an issue. The town is looking at
increasing handicap spots.
iii. Berlin Schools - Linda Holian is willing to come meet with the
commission to discuss what the commission could do to help
organize an event. Mr. Truitt will invite her to the May 2017
meeting.
iv. Library Display - Commissioner Zera will work on the display at
Peck Memorial Library for March Disability Month. The event will
be listed on every November agenda in order to start planning for
the March event.
v Swimming Pools - The funds are not available to replace
lifts and handicap equipment.
vi. Handicap Bathroom at the Senior Center - This at first glance, this
project looked like a quick fix. After reviewing plans looks like it
might not be feasible.
vii. ESS - Mr. Truitt explained the program to the commission.
The program helps with school avoidance both in school and at
home.
New Business
The commission discussed the possibility of having monthlv
meetings instead of bi-monthly. Chairman Dombrowski will discuss
this with Doug Truitt to determine what needs to be done for this to
happen or if this is even an option. Chairman Dombrowski proposed
having a special meeting in April to discuss this. He will check with Mr.
Truitt.

Adiournment--Motion to adjourn was made by Chairman Dombrowski and
seconded by Commissioner Cesanek, passed unanimously.
The meeting ended at 7:20 pm.
