Hr. Powers advised that the Iteadov Lane Bridge has been repaired and
the State has confirmed that it is now safe for traffic. Hr. Powers stated
that the t~ue has come when the Town must give thought to rebuilding several
of these old bridges.
Minutes of the meeting o£ June 8, 1964 were accepted as written.
Mr. Powers adv4sed that the dump had started to burn again but that
the City of New Britain was in the process of putting the fire out. The
City of New Britain has promised to grade off the area and planttrees very
The Board accepted, with regret, resignation of Horris Dodson from
the Park & Recreation COmmittee.
Mr. Powers will make one last request to the Board of Finance that
they l~rovide budgets for the Ccgnittee for the Aging and the Board of
Public Wo~ks.
Hr. Powers advised that While a return of $14,000. from investments
had been anticipated, by investing wisely Lillian Rudnick, Town Treasurer,
reports the sum of $20,271.00. Mr. Powers ccmended Mrs. Ruduick.
Upon reccmmendation of Alfred Curnow, Assistant Town Engineer,
Hr. Powers advised that it will be necessary for the Town to hold up
the Schultz bond until drainage work in his development is completed.
Phoenix Insurance Company will so be advised.
Mr. powers read letter from~overnor Dempsey in whichhe asks that
all churches be requested to ring bells on July 4th at 2s00 p.m.
Hr. powers advised that Division Street, cut-off on S~,Deming,
and Wethersfield Roads will be oiled this week.
Mr. powers advised he will write to all Fire Departments Who assisted
the Town firemen in fighting the fire at the Jolly Fisherman.
Mr. Powers read letter from the Board of Education in which they are
turning o~r to the Town the Hubbard School in East Berlin.
Mr. Lanzoni moved, Mr. Blackburn seconded, accepting Hubbard School
from the Board of Education as of Jttue 22, 1964. Motion carried.

Mr. Powers advised that the Oovernor/s Coam~ssion on the Arts
has requested that questionnaires be filled out to assist them ~n their
work. The CG~munity Art League and the Berlin Playhouse w£11 be wsked to
assist in completing these questio.~aires.
