On Tuesday, November 13, 1984 , the Design Review Committee
met with Mr. William Baretta, Jr. owner of Baretta Provision
to discuss plans for a second floor addition to be used as

dock. Cedar shingles will be used on the second floor
exterior. The first floor exterior is stone.
There will be an outside stairway between the building and
the loading dock. Mr. Carlson stated that a second means
of egress was necessary at the back of the building.
The building will have a three sided mansard with a flat
roof. The Committee recommended pitching the roof and
eliminating the box gutters as they get cluttered with
leaves , etc. very quickly.

FROM: Design Review Committee
SUBJECT : NEW ENGLAND INSULATED WIRE , INC . , 20- 24 New Park Drive
Berlin, Conn. 06037
The Design Review Committee met on Tuesday, November 13 ,
1984 with Mr. Michael Roche , Project Manager for Pacesetter
Buildings , Inc . to discuss some planned landscaping
changes for the New England Insulated Wire , Inc . buildings .
Mr. Roche stated that they would like to change the planting
area and in place of Hemlocks along the side of the building
as called for in the original plans they wish to put a
406. planting area at the corner bank with white birch trees
and rhodendron and azaleas .
The Committee felt that the white birch trees would blend
in with the white building and that the corner is a very
windy corner and the plantings would not survive . The
Committee suggested that white pine be planted along the
side of the building to break up the long expanse . A
change from 4 ' Hemlocks to 3' white pines would save
money and the number of white pines could be increased and
planted in groups of three along the wall . The Committee
felt that it would be a mistake to concentrate all the
plantings in one corner and leave the side of the building
bare . More plantings could be added to the corner at a
later date .
Plans were also presented for a sign which would be located
between the buildings . A low V-shaped sign which would be
constructed of the same block as used in the buildings with
black lettering attached.
