1963/09/23Minutes of the Meet~ag September 23, 1963 ~ OF BitRLIN OFI~ICB OF TI-IR ~RLRCTMtIN The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m, at the Berlin High School. Selectmen Powers and Laflzoni were present. Mr. Kerin was unable to attend. Minutes of the meeting of September 16, 1963 were accepted as w~itten. Mr. Powers advised that Bernard Cabelus, Building ~nspector, had appointed Daniel Miller to the position of Assistant Building Inspector under the provisions of State Statute. (M~nutes of the Meeting, September 16, 1963) Mr. Powers advised that Shirley Demerest would be allowed use of the Community House to take registrations for her dancing classes. When it is determined how many pupils have registered we will set a fee for rental. (Minutes of the Meeting, September 16, 1963) Mr. Powers advised having contacted State Tax Commissioner John ~'~L. Sullivan regard~ug Scalise bills (Minutes of the Meeting, September ~'16, 1963) and has been advised that his expense is legitimate so that the Board of Selectmen should in no way Mr. Powers advised having written to Ralph Carter, asking for action of the Board of Assessors since we have nO Fight to expend money from their buret without their consent. At the request of Tax Collector F~ank Motyka, Board members signed refund of property taxes for ~lsie £1einschnidt in the muount of $18.75. Mrs. Kleinschmidt had been taxed in more than one Town. State Statute 12-126. M~. Powers advised that Bngineering Department has prepared bids for curbin~ and connection of storm drainage on WildemJ~oad; also, another bid has been prepared to go out on the approaches to the Percival Avenue Bridge providing Town Meeting approves funds for this project. At the recommendation of Albert Dudzik, Town Auditor, Agnes MaieE, Assistant Town Treasurer will be bonded. Town Writing Agent has been adivsed and is checking on cost. Mr. Powers read letter of complaint frOm Mr. Woerner, 19 P~entice Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Woerner had work done at Duchettes Garage on September 27, 1963 and believed he had been overcharged. . It was the opinion of the Board that since the Town was [u'~ay ~nvolvea  t~at the letter be forwarded to the prosecutor of the Circuit Court w~thout comment. The meeting adjourned at Town Meeting. 8:00 p.m. to allow Selectmen to attend
