1962/06/04blinutes of the bleeting $~ne 4, 1962 BOARD OF T(~NN OF BRRLIN The meeting opened at 7:30 p.m., with the three Selectmen present. ~trs. Mahan and ~tr. Covini were present for the Press. Minutes of the meeting of May 28, 1962, were accepted as written. On recommendation of the Highway Superintendents bid for Sweeper was awarded to H. O. Penn Machine Company, Inc., for Wayne - for $11,797.50. Bid for ~ductor was awarded to the Wilhelm-Davies Company for New ~odel L - tlgin - for ~tr. Powers advised that Polio Clinics are now planned for the new oral polio vaccine. Dr. Chotkowski suggested a fee of between 25¢ and $0¢ be charged for each shot. 25¢ was agreed upon. This will be charged for the first shot and fee for future shots will be determined after costs involved have been determined. pr. Powers gave report on the progress of our road rebuilding program and advised oiling will start in the very near future. ~r. Sack Dennehy, Chairman of the Park & Recreation Committee, and Salvatore LaRosa and William Dennis of the Park Department appeared to further discuss clarification of duties.. ~lr. Powers called ~tr. Hamilton requesting use ox a part of his land in the Webster Park area for playground purposes. Hamilton willingly agreed and Town Counsel Dawson will prepare a hold harmless agreement. ~tr. Dennehy advised a supervised program will now be held there. ~/r. Dennehy requested that both F~r. Dennis and ~tr. LaRosa attend Park & Recreation Committee meetings. ~r. LaRosa's duties have been outlined (copy attached) and ~lr. Dennis' duties will be outlined shortly. ~tr. Dennis will be Gerneral Superintendent over all and Mr. LaRosa will be Park Supervisor and in charge of Part-time summer help. All orders will be issued in duplicate,a copy to be given to the Park and Recreation Committee. ~tr. Denneh~ advised the Carbo area is slowly being developed but that much fill is needed there. The softball league would like their own field and this might be possible here. Pr. Kerin suggested that the debris which the sweeper pulls in be dumped in this area as fill. l~r. Skinner will be advised of this. )ir. Dennis felt Park equipment should be standardized. Mowers at this time are in very poor condition and it is very hard to secure parts for the equipment we now have. pr. LaRosa requested some reimbursement for use of his truck. ~. Powers will look into the possibility of supplying or providing insurance for it. The Board agreed to provide him with gas and oil and when maintenance problems arise he is to come in and decisions will be made at that time. 1962 .-2- On recommendationof the Park & Recreation Com~itteet Dennis wil! be General Super/ntendent over al! and ~l~.
