Wnuk at 7:20 PM. MINUTES A motion was made by Chief Folcik and was seconded by Chief Lewandowski ,, accept the Minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Motion passed unanimou . o N 7- C7_ . •� OLD BUSINESS r m- rn J -n APPARATUS " C") �, > A discussion was held on the new apparatus as to the progress status of a 1 the-+o new apparatus. It was reported that everything is going well and that a date will e z announced as to the next trip out to the factory. It was discussed to possibly take ne rn o other officer from each company along on the trip so that they can become more amiliar with the procedure of buying new apparatus. East Berlin's Engine 6 has already gone to American LaFrance. Kensington Fire Department reported that they are having trouble with the software in their computer. PHYSICALS All firemen must take their physicals by June 15, 2002. It is reported that some are having problems setting appointments on Saturday. VEHICLE RESPONSE The new plan seems to be working pretty good. Time will tell in the future. GROUND LADDER TESTING Ground Ladder Testing will begin on May 4, 2002 . SKFD& KFD will test all their ground ladders. On May 11, 2002 Berlin&East Berlin will test their ladders. THERMO IMAGING CAMERAS Chief Simons reported that the Camera fund needs $ 10,000. A motion was made by Chief Folcik and was seconded by Asst. Chief Rogan to make the necessary transfers to the camera fund. Motion passed unanimously. RADIO Asst. Chief Rogan gave a detailed report on the progress on the radio tower at the Berlin Fire Department. He stated that on May 9, 2002 at 7 PM a meeting with the Joint Plannning Commission will be held on the tower. Mike stated that he needs all the support he can get at this meeting. If this tower is approved then work can get started ASAP. A motion was made by Chief Folcik and was seconded by Asst Chief McMahon to suppport Assistant Chief Rogan 's plans on the tower. Motion passed : 5 in favor 1 absention. KENSINGTON CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH The Kensington Congregational Church will sponsor a Firefighters' Breakfast. A flyer with the time and date will be sent to each fire company. GRANTS Kensington and East Berlin will be applying for grants. [RAINING Chief Lewandowski reported that on May 13, 2002 Flashover Training for all companies will be held— 1 & '/2 hr. classroom training followed by hands-on training. On June 10 & 24 Hoz Mat refresher class which will consist of approximately 45 minutes of classroom followed by operational training at the Hartford County School. The Regional Task Force Drill has been cancelled. Berlin Fire Department has set up a regional Task Force Drill in early July. Chief Lewandowski will attempt to set up a Simulator class. The Secretary is to send a letter to Chief Trommer in Newington on our concerns of the Training Tower. Chief Lewandowski reported on the dry hydrant that will be installed at the Papergoods Pond. A lengthy discussion was held on the recent forest fires and it was agreed that A.T.V. ( quads ) will only be used if the Incident Commander requests them. Too many quads were up on the Mountain and not enough people to actually put the fires out. The Chiefs will compile a list of resources for any large emergencies.
