RPCt-i, { 4 Berlin, East Berlin, Kensington, South Kensington %_. • '� SEP m ) 4' FOUR CHIEFS MEETING 6-20-00 KENSINGTON FIREHOUSE The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Chief Mark Lewandowski at 7:15 PM. The meeting started a little late because the majority of Chiefs attended the Town Meeting. There were no minutes of the May meeting due to a lack of a quorum. VOICE OF THE PUBLIC None ELECTION OF A CHAIRMAN&CO-CHAIRMAN Chief J. Simons was elected Chairman and Asst. Chief David Jorsey II was elected Co-Chairman by a unanimous vote. TRAINING COMMITTEE It was requested that each department have at least one representative to serve on this committee. The following names were submitted by departments : East Berlin—Tim Chicker; Berlin—R. Scalora; South Kensington—D. Schaller-B. Wolf. Kensington needs to come up with a name. RADIOS The Incident Commander and apparatus must use Channel# 1. In case of a second call while all departments are out,the responding units will use Channel 2. In case of a third call,the responding units will use Channel 3. DISPATCHING A procedure is being put together to confirm that when Berlin dispatcher sets off our tones and dispatches a request for assistance, Cromwell Fire Department dispatcher will call Berlin dispatcher to verify that the tones and message were received loud and clear. At the present time,our dispatcher has no way of knowing if the tones and message went out over the radios. REQUEST A letter was read from C. Haber,Director of Training for Hartford County requesting permission to contact the Town Manager about obtaining some of the P-100 radios to be used in Hartford County Training School. A motion was made by Chief Jorsey and seconded by Chief Folcik to 4. grant permission to the Hartford County Training Director to ask the Town Manager for radios if the Town does not use all the surplus radios. This motion passed unanimously. NEW TRUCK Money has been allocated but the Chiefs have a meeting in the Town Hall on July 6, 2000 to further discuss what other information is required before any specifications are drawn up. GOOD OF THE ORDER Chief Simons announced that Asst. Chief Keith Glabau of the Berlin Fire Department has accepted a full-time firefighter's position with the Southington Fire Department. Berlin will be electing a new Asst. Chief at their July meeting. A motion was made by Chief Jorsey and seconded by Chief Lewandowski to adjourn the meeting at 8:50PM. Res ctfully Ret. Chief Edward F.
