1994-05-10 May 10, 1994 The regular meeting of the Conservation Commission was called to order at 6: 37 p.m. by Dick Schmidt, Chairman. PRESENT - J. Dornfried; D. Howe; M. Spacek; D. Schmidt; P. Watson; W. Welch APPROVAL OF MINUTES Moved by Bill Welch and Seconded by Dave Howe to accept the minutes of April 12, 1994 with the following changes: 1 . Page 2 Paragraph 5 - Michele Spacek contacted Ms. Mitchell and Dr. Meyers for high school volunteers for the recycling center on Saturdays . 2 . Page 2 Paragraph 2 under Item e - Michele was concerned about keeping the brush under control with the upkeep of the pond. All in Favor of accepting the minutes . AUDIENCE OF CITIZENS There was no participation at this time. OLD BUSINESS A. Natural Resource Inventory There was nothing new to report at this time and it was determined at this time to delete this item from the agenda. B. Ragged Mountain Jim Dornfried went down to the area after the last meeting and there was nothing done. Mr. Dornfried then wrote a letter to Mayor Peters expressing his concern and boulders have been moved into the area. C. Lamentation Mountain There was nothing new to report at this time. D. Recycling - 2 - There was nothing new to report at this time. Michele Spacek would like to be reappointed to the TROC Citizens Advisory Council . E. Use of Town Lands The Commission discussed the final draft and made several corrections to the final version. Michele Spacek will make the changes and she and Dick Schmidt will handle the distribution of the proposal. F. Paper Goods Property Dick Schmidt received a report regarding the dam. This has been submitted to Morgan Seelye for review. G. Action Items There was nothing new to report at this time. H. Greenway Acquisition and Development There was nothing new to report at this time. NEW BUSINESS Pat Watson addressed Bicentennial Park. Pat presented a plan of what the Town of Berlin would propose if development was to take place. Bill Welch found out through Doc McIntosh that the Town of Berlin is mowing Bicentennial Park for fire hazard reasons . Mr. Welch also asked why the Little League could not use the fields at Emhart as they practice there. The Little League does not use these fields as there are no concession areas. Dick Schmidt sent a letter to Mayor Peters in regard to Park and Recreation Commission selling Treasure Field. Jim Dornfried will check on the status of Webster Park.
