The Design Review Committee met at the Town Hall on October 21,
1975, at 7:30 P. M. Present were Sally Macfarlane , Joseph Stiano,
Marilyn Brierley, Philip Blakesly , Dorothy DeGiorgi, Gary
Hermanowski and Emil Carlson.
The Awards Ceremony took place in the Public Meeting Room. A
slide presentation prepared by Philip Blakesly and Sebby Papa was
given by Dr. Blakesly and Gary Hermanowski showing the results of
proper planning. Three awards were presented by Mayor Arthur
Powers as follows:
1. Citation for Excellence of Design of New Structure and Site ,
The Banak Nursery, Inc. , 44 Norton Lane , Berlin - received
by Mr. Ronald Banak. !
2. Citation for Excellence of Design for Addition to Existing
Structure and Site , Ledgecrest Convelescent Hospital, 154
Kensington Road, Kensington - received by Mr. Paul Prior.
Mr. Arthur H. Alden, Architect, was also present.
3. Citation in Special Recognition for Improvement of Existing
Architecture and Site , The Precise Machine Products, Inc. ,
453 Christian Lane , Berlin - received by Mr. 4alter S .
Ludwikow. Mr. R. E. Gibson of Home Designing Service was
present also.
A coffee hour took place immediately after the presentation and
pictures were taken.
The Committee met with Mr. John E. Downes , Vice President, .'rank E.
Downes Construction Co. , Inc. , 200 Stanley Street, New Britain, Conn. ,
06050 and Mr. Richard H. Gordon, President , Ashley Associates , Inc. ,
Old Mountain Road , Farmington, Conn. , 06032 , and discussed plans
for erection of Rowland Products building and Lwight Foote Company
building in the Spruce Brook Industrial Park.
The Committee discussed the sign for Steve ' s Camper Service , 141
4ilbur Cross Highway , Berlin, and sent him a memo with two recom-
mendations.
The next meeting will take place at 7:30 P. M. at the Town Hall on
November 4, 1975, in Room Nine.
