Office of the Selectmen
The meeting opened at 9:00 P.M. with the three Selectmen present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Mrs. Mahan and Mr. Wallace represented the press.
Mr. Graham reminded the Selectmen that the town meeting was to be
held on December 5, 1955 8:00 P.M. at the High School and the following
items would appear on the agenda.
1. Bonding of contractors who dig up town highways for water, gas
and sewer installations.
2. Establishing a new voting district.
3. Setting of a salary for the Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerk.
After some discussion on t~e salary of the Town Clerk and Assists~t
Town Clerk, Mr. Grah~n moved, Mr. Cistare seconded, recommending a salary
of Sho00 for the full time Town Clerk and a salary of .$3500 for the Asst.
Town Clerk, effective January 1, 1956.
Motion unanimously carried.
Mr. Graham informed the Selectmen that he had not received an official
break down of the new budget as yet from the Board of Finance. Mr. Graham
pointed out that until this break down is received the books of the Selectmen
cannot be set up.
Mr. Graham moved, Mr. Dehan seconded, approving the action taken by
the First Selectmen in writing the Board of Finance, requesting a copy of
~he budget break down.
Motion unanimously carried.
Mr. Graham reported that he and Mr. Davis, Town Engineer, had looked
over the Carbo Pond to see if it could be utilized for ice skating t~Lis
winter.
~r. Graham moved, Mr. Cistare seconded, that tl~e Kensington Fire Dept.
be asked to burn over the area and also that the town crew install the
necessary sand bags to dam up the pond.
Motion unanimously carried.
Mr. Graham said that no one was to go on the pond until the town
notifies the people that it is aafe, and that being that this pond was
on town property it was covered by town insurance.
Mr. Cistare brought to t~e attention of-the Selectme~ that the vacant
lot between t~e S~ar Barber Shop and Mr. Jackawayts building on Main St.
Kensington was an eye sore and a~ked if the town could not clean it up.
Mr. Graham explained tha~ t~is niece of property was not owned by the
To~n, but that he would wire the owner to see if permission could be
obtained to clean it up.

Mr. Dehan mentioned that a Mr. Bottell of Savage Hill Road had

hill as well as at the top..
Mr. Dehan a~k~d Mr. Graham to speak wi t~ Grant Skinner to see if he
thougnt it advisable to use barrels instead of sand boxes for the roadside
sand storage.
