1960/04/22 MINUTES OF THE P:ac AND RECREATION COMMIS3IUN M! TING OP APRIL 22, 1960 The Park and recreation Commission met April 22 at 8 p.m. in Town Nall. Those present were Chairman Dennehy and Messrs Sargis, Gurakis and Dodson, The resignation of Henry Recano was accepted with regret. Secretary was directed to send a letter of appreciation for his long years of service. After a discussion of candidates for supervisors in the summer playground program, it was voted to recommend the appointment of Prank Mute at a salary of $350 for eight weeks; Diane Thompson and Cordon Davis at a salary of 325 each; Miss Margaret RocY,c and Miss 3arbara Labieniec at a salary of $300. The salary schedule is based on experic,nce, Mr. Mute having two yearn experience, Miss Thompson and Mr. Davis, one year each, and Miss Roche and Miss Lahieniec having no previous experience. After discussion it was voted to recommend the appointment of David McCain as Director of Memorial Pool, havingohne of the swimming team end giving swimming lessons, at a salary of $65_ per week for a 10 week program. Also recommended for reappointment were Gerry Turner and Mrs. Renee Nall at a salary of $50 per week each. Miss Judy 5olles, a junior at the University of Connecticut was recommended as a junior life guard at a salary of $4.5 per week. The position of attendant was left open. The salary is $25 per week. All recommendations were subject to the approval of the Merlin Lions Club and the ?oard of '*electmen. Recreation Director Victor 3aylook reported on a proposed Girls Soft Sall program to be held during May. The Men's loft 3a11 program is also underway. Mr. aayloek said he was going to investige e the possibility of a Church League junior baseball program. Finance report disclosed a balance of $5,802.59 in the Park Dept. budget and 45,448,84 in the recreation budget. These balances were reported as of April 1. After discussion it was voted to hold a special meeting May 6 at 8 p.m. in Town Hall to work on the budget for the 1960.61 fiscal year. Meeting adjourned at 10:10 p.n.
