1953/04/13Minutes of the Meeting March 2~, 1953 T0~A~ OF BERLIN present. accepted. OFFICE OF THE SELECTMEN The meeting opened at 7:30 P.M. with the three Selectmen The minutes of the previous meeting were read and Mr. Harry McKeon and Mr. Andrew Barnak representing the American Legion, appeared before the Board this evening and requested permission to hold their annual carnival the week of Lay 20th to the 25th on the property of Mr. Masserio on Farmington Ave. Mr. Markus woods who lives at 862 Farmington Ave. appeared before the Selectmen this evening and offered $300. for a parsel of property located on the east side of Grandview Ave., measuring 122' frontage, 175' rear measurement and 255' deep. Mr. Woods owns property to the south-west of this parsel of land. Mr. Bomba informed the Selectmen that this property was assessed for $950 which is shown on the map of F. Norton, Volume l, page ? of the photostat. Mr. Hall informed Mr. Woods that this would be to be advertised for sale and bids requested, the property being sold to the highest bidder. Mr. Hall is to notify Mr. Woods when this is tc be advertised in order that he may look for it. Mr. Hall reported that a good supply of water was reached at the 98 foot level on Mr. Klatt's property. The Board of Selectmen met with Supt. of Schools and George Varrlale of the Board of Education this afternoon, and inspected the Georgini property. 'A'hey discussed the possibility of purchasing a portion of their property by the Twwn with Edwin and Albert Georgini whiZh the exception of the homestead and the land immediately surrounding it. lhis is located south-west of Carbo Lane and Joining the Legnani prmperty and the Percival field property. The Georgini boys are to discuss the matter further among themselves and then inform the Selectmen as to what they are willing to seal for etc. Mr. Hall said that there was between 15 and X? acres which they owned. -2- A letter was received from Thongs A. Gerdis, constable, applying for the position of dispatcher at the Fire and Police Headquarters. A motion was made and passed that. in view of the fact that the present arrangmment at the Fire and Police Headquarters is satisfactory that it be left as is. fi le. A letter was written to Mr. Gerdis, a copy of which is on A letter was received from ~. H. Baldwin, of the Stanley Chemical Co. thanking the Selectmen for their cooperation and assistance in connection with their recent~problem. The letter was placed on file. ~.~ A letter was ~&cei~ed~f~othe State, Department of Farms and Markets asking the Town to appoint a dog warden for the year ending March 31st. A mOtion was made and passed that Mr. John Maier be appointed Dog Warden, effective April l, 1~53. A letter was written and a copy place on file. A letter was received from Mrs. Jennie Nifosi of Carbo Lane, Kensington which was read to the Selectmen. Mrs. Nifosi has 18 acres of land on Carbo~ L~ne which she feels would be desirable for future school purposes. A letter was written Mrs. Nifosi and a copy forwarded to Mr. Edward Dyer of the Board of Education. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
