OCTOBER 18. 1974
The Meeting was called to order by Chairman A. R. Bengston. Present were
Dr.. L. Chotkowski, J. Pdskiewies, A. Nieman. M. Clapp and E. Murray ex officio
Mr. Bengston reviewed the summer's activities. He reported that the Bi-
Centennial Park Project had been it turned down by the Board of Finance. Re re-
viewed the presentations made to the Board by
a variety of experts to convince
that body that it was important to protect town wellsites as well as preserve
the land for a park. In a letter written July 3, Mr. Bengston requested an
appropriation of25 per cent, or about $150.000 for the town share of the pro-
ject, endoresed by both federal and state authorities, but received no answer.
It was suggested that a new approach be made to the Board get an official de-
cision

on the matter.
There was some discussion of the role of the Conservation Commission in
the regulation and use of open space acquired for the town.
