1975-11-18 4 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CONSERVATION COMMISSION HELD NOVEMBER 18, 1975 Members Present: Dr. Chotkowski, Dr. Ringrose, Joe Paskiewicz, and Al Bengston. The chairman reported that Mrs. Mary Clapp and her family had moved to New Britain and therefore she was no longer a member of this Commission. The members unanimously approved a vote of thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Clapp for the many years of dedicated work and interest which she had given to the work of the Commission through the years that she had been a member of it. The chairman then gave a general report on the following events and matters that he had been working on through the summer months while the Commission was in recess. 1. The dedication ceremony of Ragged Mountain Memorial Preserve held on June 16th, 1975, at the West Lane entrance to the park. 2. His attendance and statement made at the public hearing held June 11th re the application of the Wilcox family to remove gravel from their property off Kensington Road. 3. The letter received from the Torrington Conservation Commission objecting to the decision of the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection to permit the construction of a roadway across the Burr Pond State Park property in Burrville for the purpose of establish- ing a private boat launching site. 4. An up to date report on our negotiation with the Board of Water Commissioners in New Britain regarding the possible acquisition of The Glen Property in Kensington. 5. Mr. Thomas Ward's letter of May 19th concerning the Town's 1976-77 Budget and financial standing. 6. The Workshop Meeting in Meriden held on October 20th sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Conservation Commissions. 7. Letter dated August 1, 1975 received from the Department of Transporta- tion of the State of Connecticut regarding the postponement of the extension of Route 9 from Interstate 91 in Cromwell to Route 15 in Berlin. 8. A comprehensive report and discussion on the status of the Bicentennial Park Project including the final approval of a grant of $275,500.00 from the Federal Government. " r -2- 9. A report on the special public hearing to be held on December 9th on the Regulations and Map prepared by the Inland Wetlands and Water Courses Commission. 10. A review of the proposed Budget of the Conservation Commission for the fiscal year 1976-77 which was approved as proposed. The meeting adjourned at 11 P.M. A. R. Bengston, Chairman ..
