Approval of Minutes:
Commissioner Bovee made a motion to approve the minutes from the August 8, 2013 meeting,
seconded by Commissioner Sylvester. The motion passed unanimously.
Consent Agenda
a. Approval for Raising Berlin to sell merchandise and bottled water at the joint Raising Berlin
and Parks & Recreation Tree Lighting Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday,
November 30, 2013.
Commissioner Bovee made a motion to approve the consent agenda, the motion was seconded
by Commissioner Hinchliffe. The motion was unanimously approved.
b. Dick Yale request the use of 2 golf carts to haul food at the Berlin Fair Grounds for vendors
Commissioner Sylvester made a motion to add item b to the consent agenda, motion was
seconded by Commissioner Hinchliffe. The motion was unanimously approved.
Commissioner Bovee made a motion to approve item b on the consent agenda, motion was
seconded by Commission Hinchliffe. The motion was unanimously approved.
c. BHS-Girls Soccer Jamboree-donation-Round of Golf for Four and two carts
d. Manes in Motion Donation-Celebrity Waiter Dinner Auction at Aqua Turf Club September
26, 2013Donation- Round of Golf for Four and two carts.
Commissioner Bovee made a motion to add items c and d to the consent agenda, motion was
seconded by Commissioner Sylvester. The motion was unanimously approved.
After further discussion, item c was removed from the consent agenda due to the Jamboree is
already done and over. Commissioner Bovee made a motion to remove; motion was seconded
by Commissioner Hinchliffe. The motion was unanimously approved.
After further discussion, Commissioner Bovee made a motion to approve item d, motion was
seconded by Commissioner Sylvester. This motion was unanimously defeated.
Timberlin Golf Course
a. Proposed Golf Pro Contract was presented to council approval - Contract was brought to
Town Council and a 4 year contract was approved.
b. Discussion of terms of contract - 3% Increase was approved, Increase to 8% for gross total
on carts, Increased retainer by $2500 throughout 4 year contract, shop staff allowance
increased $4000 first year then $500 for the consecutive 3 years
c. Driving Range Update – Contact Doug Smith, looking at driving range where it is currently.
Drawing up several different plans. No longer looking at other property.

Re - silted ball fields
Paper Goods Pond/Park has been cleaned and maintained.
Little People’s Playground has been cleaned and wood fiber has been put down.
Painted all basketball back boards at schools.
Pools and playgrounds closed for the season.
All schools cleaned up for the start of school.
Put sod in the goal area on the all purpose field (Sage Auxiliary) at Sage.
Lights on the fountain at Veterans Memorial Park pond have been repaired. Cost $1900 to
purchase new lights.
Greg Palaia was promoted to Equipment Operator
b. Berlin Youth Lacrosse is requesting permission to place 8’ X 20’ equipment storage
container at Sage Park adjacent to the Maintenance building, near Midget Football and Youth
Soccer storage facilities. It would be used to store equipment, uniforms and goals Youth and
BHS lacrosse. Need approval to forward request to Council for review
All approved, Commissioner Bovee to contact Berlin Youth Lacrosse Team and let
them know it’s been approved and to contact Art for location.

c. Discussion and approval of proposed Eagle Scout Project by Evan Hanson –
attending next monthly meeting to discuss Eagle Scout Project at Peck Library

Fall program registration is under way
Winter basketball registration is et to start September 30
We are offering several new programs this fall. The programs are yoga for adults, Fun and
Games for 4 year olds, Fitness Funk for kids’ ages 5-10, Performing Arts for grades K-6, a
new morning Pilates bar class and children’s theme birthday parties where people can choose
a theme and we have a staff person to get supplies and provide difference activities.
Working on October special events, Scarecrow/Fall Festival and Monster Bash
Field registrations for the Fall have been inputted into the computer, Terri has continued to
handle this and after a full year it seems to be going well
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Commissioner Bovee to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 PM, seconded by
Commissioner Sylvester. The motion was unanimously approved.
