CEMETERY COMMITTEE

Caucus Room A Berlin Town Hall 7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Ronald Lindgren, Charles Warner, Anthony DeGrandi
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Lindgren called the meeting to order at 7:20 P.M.
ROLL CALL: Richard Poudrier and Philip 6riffin are absent.
We will be unable to conduct business because the Town Clerk's Office did not receive the agenda
It was noted Mr. DeGrandi was reappointed with his term ending in 2017.
Philip Griffin was appointed a member of this Committee and was sworn in by the Town Clerk. As
the Chairman did not receive notice of the appointment, an agenda was not mailed to Mr. Griffin.
After telephoning him at this last minute, he said he had another appointment but would try to get
to the meeting.
We will check with John Hackett who was appointed an alternate but was never sworn in.
It was reported Earl Wicklund and Richard Russell have expressed an interest in joining our
Committee.
The Chairman read two letters; the first from Laura Petix who has ancestors buried in the Christian
Lane Cemetery. She was dismayed at the state of disrepair. During a later visit, she discovered work
was being done on some of the stones. She contacted Tony DeGrandi who informed her of our
predicament. She enclosed a check for $500.00 to assist in the repair of the cemeteries. A letter of
thank you and appreciation was sent to Ms. Petix. She wishes to keep in contact with us and
contributing additional funds. Perhaps Ms. Petix would be able to attend our next meeting and the
members can thank her personally. Mr. Warner said the check is in a Special Fund with the Town.
The second letter was from Judy (King) Hungerford thanking the Chairman for the quick work in
having a fallen tree removed from the top of her ancestor's headstones.
Mr. Warner reported all stones have been repaired and straightened at the Christian Lane Cemetery
by the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout Project. Also, stairs have been made and installed at the Beckley
Cemetery as an Eagle Scout Project.
Our next scheduled meeting is May 18, 2011.
