1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Steele called the meeting to order @7:00 P.M.
2. AUDIENCE OF CITIZENS:
None
3. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES, Wednesday, December 9, 2009:
Carol Welz made a motion to accept the Minutes of Wednesday,
December 9, 2009 as written. Jane Sorbo seconded the motion & they were
unanimously approved.
4. LIBRARIAN’S REPORT – DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:
Directors Report - Dir. Munson distributed information about the new
Library website, http://berlinpeck.lishost.net/ and she asked for feedback from
the Library Board Members. She explained that she and Carrie would like
feedback on the content of the website. They are still working on the aesthetics
(photographs, background color, font size/color, etc). Members were invited to
send their comments to Carrie @ ctyszka@libraryconnection.info or Sara @
smunson@libraryconnection.info . The back of the information sheet lists
questions and Dir. Munson asked the Members to test out the new webpage by
seeing how easy it is to answer the questions. Dir. Munson plans on a subpage
for the name database within the next month or two.
Assistant Directors Report – Asst. Dir. Nelson noted that the window
seat has been removed in the children’s area to make way for the new mural by
Ted Esselstyn. In removing the seat a storage area was lost. After weeding out
some items the storage materials were moved into the story time area where a
sink had been removed and a new counter put in place by the Building
Maintenance Dept. The new counter looks wonderful and she believes that by

February 1 the former window seat wall will be repaired and readied for the

new mural.
Asst. Dir. Nelson stated that she thinks they will also be getting new
signage for the children’s area tomorrow.
5. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:
Chairman Steele stated that he was very pleased that the Classical Music
is now operational on the website. He urged everyone to take advantage of it.
6. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:

Budget Committee
Current Budget FY2009-2010 – Dir. Munson has transferred $2,000 to
the dwindling Substitute Account. She has not heard anything further
regarding the Proposed Budget for FY2010-2011.

Friends Committee
Dir. Munson stated that the Friends met on January 6 and were

concerned that the program with Linda Stamm, owner of Winter
Associates, Inc. scheduled for Tuesday, January 26 will go well.

Attendees must sign up and list the item they are bringing for appraisal.
They are limited to one item per person and a limit of fifty people.
Military items, coins, guns, stamps, fine gemstones or dolls will not be
acceptable items for appraisal.

Personnel Committee
Chairman Steele requested volunteers for a nominating committee to
select a slate of officers for 2010. Volunteers are: Elizabeth Bennett,
Elaine Borselle & Sharon Powell. They will meet before the regular
February meeting on Wednesday, February 10 @ 6:30 to put together a

slate for the offices of Chairman & Vice-Chairman.

9. NEW BUSINESS:
Elizabeth Bennett noted that the Library will be receiving a gift of two
Claude Stevens paintings. These paintings are being donated by a woman who
grew up in Berlin, now living in Farmington and downsizing her home. Claude
Stevens was a painter from Berlin and the gift will be greatly appreciated.
Ms. Bennett noted that they have also received a 1936 photo of the Blue Hills
Class with the names of classmates written on the back. An attempt will be
made to determine which name matches which face.

10. ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Steele wished Dir. Munson a wonderful vacation next week.
Sharon Powell made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 PM. The motion
was seconded by John Day and unanimously approved.
