ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MONDAY, July 9, 2007
MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE:

Chairman Cyr called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
1.AUDIENCE OF CITIZENS:
None.
2.MINUTES OF PAST MEETINGS
No action.
3.FINANCIAL REPORT:
Director Mahoney noted that all items of the Financial Report are on track. The Town
Manager has approved requested carry over of funds.
4.PROMOTION:
ICSC Boston Marketing event –
Director Mahoney noted that he would be attending
this event on July 12.
5.Plan of Conservation and Development:
There were no items to discuss.
6.Incentive Programs:
Director Mahoney noted the status of the following items:

Wollman Holdings – no action
?
Braycamp LLC – approved by the Town Council
?
TIGHITCO – approved by the Town Council
?
Budney Overhaul and Repair – application not submitted
7.Grants
Director Mahoney noted that the Town Center remediation project is nearly complete.
Final change orders to approve adjusted quantities will be presented to the Town Council for
approval on July 10. Seeding will be put off till September.
MR Roming has been selected as the contractor to design the Town Center Park.

Proposals were received for the Train Station design project.
8.DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION

Mr. Mahoney showed the group updated sign design renderings.

The Depot Crossing project is at Planning and Zoning.
?
The Commission discussed the need to coordinate with the American Legion regarding the
reuse of the parcel on Massirio Drive that is being remediated as a part of the Town’s Solid
Waste Closure project.
9.LEGISLATION:
Director Mahoney noted that there was nothing to report.
10.DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Director Mahoney noted that Corporation for Independent Living has a contract to buy
the Sherwood Tool facility and to redevelop it as market rate condos. Newberry
Development Group bought the former Kensington Grammar School. A site plan has been
submitted for a 23,000 square foot retail development on Webster Square Road.
11.OTHER BUSINESS
Reports indicate that the first Farmers Market held on July 7 was successful. The market
will be held weekly on Farmington Avenue, next to Kensington Furniture.
Commissioner Stack moved to cancel the August meeting. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Bragulla and unanimously approved.
12.ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Stack MOVED to adjourn the meeting SECONDED by Commissioner
Bragulla & UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
