Library Director 1. CALL TO ORDER: Vice-Chairman Bennett called the meeting to order. . 2. AUDIENCE OF CITIZENS: None 3. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES, Wednesday, March 14, 2007: Regular Minutes – Carol Welz noted a correction to Page 3, line 4 – the word work should be word. Minutes accepted as corrected. Expansion Committee Minutes – Donna Moore made a motion to accept the Expansion Committee Minutes of Wednesday, March 14 as written. th Motion seconded by Rosa Brown. Minutes accepted. 4. LIBRARIAN’S REPORT – DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Director’s Report: Dir. Munson noted that the Downloadable Books have started to draw some attention. Sixteen people have signed up with thirty-eight downloads. Signup is on line and use requires a Library Card. She also noted that Downloadable Videos are doing well. During the first two weeks of the program, with minimum publicity, eleven people signed up and “borrowed” thirty items. Cheryl Platek is a member of the Wall of Honor Committee for the Town. The wall will be located at the Town Hall and will contain pictures of Town residents who are serving in the armed forces on active duty. Dir. Munson shared three fliers of upcoming events at the Library. The Friends of the Library are having a brown bag lunch and movie and discussion on Monday, April 23 at 12 noon. The movie is “To Catch A Thief” and Shirley rd Keezing will be the presenter. Library Director’s Report: - Assistant Library Dir. Cathy Nelson stated that she and Shirley Kucharczyk will be holding the first meeting of The Genealogy Group @ the Library tomorrow, Thursday, April 12. th 6. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: No report, Chairman Steele on vacation. 7. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS: ? Budget Committee – Dir. Munson discussed the current budget. She will have an update of the proposed budget at the next meeting. ? Friends Committee – Dir. Munson reported that tomorrow morning the Friends of the Library would be providing breakfast for the staff. This is in appreciation for all the hard work that the staff does. The new adult CD Shelving provided by the Friends is in place, along with the slant DVD shelving and slant shelving in the young adult section. The One Book Project at the Berlin Library will include a book discussion of the Surrogate Thief by Archer Mayor on Monday, April 16 @7:00 P.M. and th the finale with the author speaking on Wednesday, May 16 On April th 28 there will be a bus trip to Brattleboro Vermont where Mr. Mayor sets th his popular Joe Gunther series. Shannon Ackley of Shannon Solutions will be the interior designer who will be planning some upgrades within the Young Adult section. ? Personnel Committee ? Policy and Bylaws Committee Board books are up to date per Asst. Dir. Nelson. ? First Floor Expansion Committee – The Committee will not meet again until September. Dir. Munson did not have an exact date for distribution of the surveys, but it will be in the near future. 8. COMMUNICATIONS: None 9. OLD BUSINESS: None 10. NEW BUSINESS: Dir. Munson and Asst. Dir. Nelson will be attending the (CLA), CT. Library Association convention in Hartford. 11. ADJOURNMENT: Donna Moore moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 P.M.
